After some bad experiences with the island's hospitality, we really enjoyed this camping stay, with really nice owners and very clean utilities.
Although the owner is certainly eccentric, he was very helpful& friendly. Gave us free drinks on arrival. All other staff were equally friendly. Good facilities in general. Family bathrooms great, but they could do with baby changing tables in them. Location ok. You could hear the road from our pitch, but wasn’t disturbing.
The owners speaks very little English. The camping does not have a kitchen for campers to use. That and the fact that the camping has put 4 stars on it brings down the rating. The camping is a bit on the pricy side. With said the sanitary building is clean and fresh.
Near here there is a museum of the DDR (East Germany until 1990). If you want to see this life in action come to this campsite. It is more expensive to stay here than a cutting edge campsite in Berlin. But it is not so much the urine smelling toilet block and primitive facilities that gets me but the rude and unpleasant staff. Just like eastern Germany when I lived here in 1990/1991. To be ignored as long as possible and for them to criticize you within earshot, I think, not caring whether you understand or not is poor. Maybe a niche clientele.
When I read some of the comments I can se that MR. Manager's (sheriff ) behavier is still the same. We visited the camping many years ago, and I have never been so badly treated on a campsite. NO information about the closed gate, closes every day for a couples of hours. When we asked MR. Manager If he could open the gate he shouted/screamed that this was not possible because the people on the campsite was having a siesta/sleaping!??
A big warning If you inted to visit this camping!!!!
Mabey we visit the camping some day when there are new ovners.
After travelling trough many camps all over Europe I definitely do not recommend this. The camp is very dark, has only one insufficient sanitary facility, the staff was very rude, especially the aggressive owner. The road to the sea leads trough an unprotected railroad crossing and very busy road without any crossing. it´s very dangerous for family with childern. The owner advertises that the camp is dog frendly but the fact is different. I recomend to go to the nearly parkplatz. It´s another level!!!
camping grounds are great. service facilities clean and tidy.
Male owner is an arrogant idiot and his wife is not better. I got the strong impression that they felt I should be grateful for them letting me stay at their fine establishment.
reception takes a two hours siesta at 1:00 pm. since reception open and closes the gate, nobody can enter nor exit during the siesta!
Reception open only till 8 P.M. It has to be reserved earlier, so any spontaneous bikepacking trip isn’t possible.
